The Behavioural Public Policy Lab

We help governments design better services, make better decisions, and build the next generation of policy researchers.

  • We study the behavioural barriers that drive low take-up — including complexity, stigma, and inattention — across contexts like employment programs and newcomer integration services.

  • We study when AI reduces disparities in access and outcomes, and when it makes them worse. Using survey and lab experiments in partnership with governments deploying these systems, we evaluate how AI changes decisions and who benefits.

  • We study how individuals learn about politics in unfamiliar contexts — including how immigrants and politically independent voters navigate new party systems — and how those beliefs influence real decisions.
